Hi All,
Today I scored the refuelling set in my LHS.
As Chris has started the QL,I am left with building the AEC tanker.
I too am quite impressed with the level of detail (this is one of the few series3 kits I have never attempted)although I'm a bit dubious as to the colour call outs on the instruction sheet...
So now,I too am going to trawl for pictures, walkarounds etc. to see how much tweeking is needed.I shall not start building until I have an idea as to the standard required by you,my peers.....although I'd rather not have to go into anything I can't fabricate at home.
If anyone has any pointers I'd be grateful as I can tend towards the slothful and it's hot! wink.gif
Take care

Woz

Hi Wos, I haven't actually started the QL yet,

July 2 2009, 2:44 PM

so as far as I'm concerned, you can do whichever tank you prefer. I'll be building both the tankers in paralell anyway.

Matador colour call-outs are basically OK - overall SCC.2, which is pretty close to Humbrol Dark Earth, is a legitimate finish (though 5 parts humbrol 98 to 4 parts Humbrol 29 is closer).

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks for the heads up.....

.....although I 'm pretty set on the AEC now,as it reminds me of the matador(of which I made many)and looks like it shouldn't need much tweeking, just a nice paint job.
I hope you're recovered now
Have fun
Woz

Tanker is based on the Matador cab and chassis,

July 3 2009, 2:38 AM

so not too surprising. QL is next on the production line after the Metoers (main airframe assembly earlier today) if review builds don't get in the way. Will remove booms and replace with circular tank cover, paint in SCC.2 with Mickey Moouse camo.

Getting better, but still some way off fullly fit.

Cheers,

Chris.

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature Airfix kits.

  1. Build as many kits as you like

  2. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  3. Any markings are acceptable.

  4. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
