Hi everyone, this one is finally done. As predicted, I had to repaint about half of the canopy frame lines. I did it freehand with a fine brush, and it worked out well enough.

Here's a few shots - I'm not 100% happy with the result, but it's growing on me as the time from completion increases. (Has anyone else noticed that you become more tolerent of mistakes a day or two after first seeing them? happy.gif )

Anyway, here it is done:

On to the Dinah next.

Graham: I'll throw a bagged Val into the prize pool. Thanks for keeping score.

That looks GREAT!

The decals really pull the scheme together, and the canopy frames look real good!

I like the scheme, and all that interior detail is nicely visible through the canopies (I presume you vac formed them...)

Adrian

Wonderful model, Andrew

It is so nice to see a classic kit in unusual colours. And a great job on those canopy frames! I wish I had the skills to do those freehand.

I just bought the rereleased Kingfisher (along with the Val and Duck) and found it to be the nicest of the three. Rivets only on the floats!

That has turned out really well Andrew and you must have a

much steadier hand than I when it comes to doing canopy frames , I usually use decal strips or Tamiya's thinnest tape.
BTW , and one tiny comment, my drawings show that the outrigger struts were sky all the way down to the floats, as was the practice when the under surfaces were pale blue.
Thanks for the offer of the Val - I will do three draws when the time comes - so we now have a Boomerang, a Val and a Firefly as prizes.

Jeezes, they look great - and very fine

And I have to say, you choose a nice attractive colour scheme, I think it will definitely stand out in a line of Kingfishers

Nice work Andrew, and I like the open canopy

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature Airfix, Frog and Matchbox kits.

  1. Build as many kits as you like

  2. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  3. Any markings are acceptable.

  4. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
