The Twin Battle- Part 5

Not too much has gone on, except for some paint, as we are in the middle of the silly season at work. As I'm off overbroad tomorrow for a couple of weeks, I thought I'd post anyway. I had a few problems with the Falcon canopy- it seemed to be a bit wide- some last-minute planking with Evergreen strip bulked the fuselage out accordingly

A bit more filling, sanding, priming and re-rescribing and the painting started. I always had a Battle Of France scheme in mind from the outset with this one, so on went a light pre-shade of Xtracolour Dark Earth.

And then the Dark Green (Testor's) and Night (Humbrol 33 cut with a little dark blue). As I built the model, I noticed just how much it resembled a 110 from the fromt three-quarter view. I reckoned that there would be some fairly prominent markings applied to ease up on confusion and prevent Friendly Fire, so I went with the sort of broad white bands sometimes seen on the noses of Spitfire V's.

Looks as though I'm going to have to do a little work straightening out those bomb doors. Radiator exhaust flaps will be added to the holes behind the leading edge intakes inboard of the engines.

More from the Shed (much) later,

Pete.

Special

That's certainly something special - and I like these markings

Sorry to hear the Falcon canopy seems to be a little more wide - I hope I can remember this when I ever get the time to tackle my Battle

The white stripes look a little wierd, but I get your point.

Cool looking plane. It reminds me a little of the Aussie CAC Woomera. Adios, Larry.

Field Artillery brings dignity to what otherwise might be merely a vulgar brawl.

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature Airfix, Frog and Matchbox kits.

  1. Build as many kits as you like

  2. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  3. Any markings are acceptable.

  4. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
