subject MILINET: GEN PACE'S TRIBUTE STARS MISSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All Hands:
Betty Henry is the lady that looks after the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC.
It would appear that someone took the three 3X5 cards that Gen Peter Pace left at the Vietnam Wall. These cards have his 4 Stars attached, in honor of his Marines he lost, as a 2Lt., in Vietnam.
As she says, if anyone sees these cards on E-Bay or similar sites, she suggest you contact the authorities. I would suggest you contact Betty Henry, who would know who the proper authorities are.
I could jump up and down and scream, but Betty says not to.

Folks,
Before you jump up and down hollering and screaming, just be aware there is no way to safeguard tributes left at the Wall 24/7. Even when we Volunteers or Rangers are there, the ebb and tide of visitors and other distractions makes it impossible to walk the entire 240' length of the Wall periodically to check on anything of value which might have been left. Also what might be of interest to one is not necessarily of interest to another.
If any of you use eBay or similar sites and ever see these 3"x5" cards with four silver stars attached and a handwritten message, I'd suggest you contact the authorities.

I have checked with Claudia (Acting Site Manger in Rosanna's absence) a
couple of times and she could not locate General Pace's stars. She has also
checked with MARS and they did not arrive there. We did not get them in our
custody and I assume someone picked them up prior to the ranger collecting
the items that were left at the wall.
