I know what you mean..what in the world are game creators thinking when they make these spells?
SuperNova....all the planets are destroyed by a comet, the sun goes nova..destroying a few that are left....then it reaches earth...slowly the sun surrouns sephiroth, then our hero's...amazingly the entire planet still exists...our hero and the planets population exists...and when the spell is cast again, the sun and all the planets that were destroyed earlier, GETS DESTROYED AGAIN.

Actually, I don't think he ever casts it twice

I believe it was his summon spell, and could only be cast once per battle. Could be wrong, though.

Trust Me, Sephiroth Uses That One To Many Freakin Times. I've Had That Used On Me 5-6 Times In One Battle. And At About, What, 10 Minutes Long (Thats What It Feels Like) It Gets Old, Quick. I Could Understand If It Was His Final Attack Before Keeling Over, But Cmon It Was Downright Ridiculous How Often He Used It.
Yeah, you'd think that a few of these could make a bit more sense. I mean, Supernova destroys most of the universe, but yet, Earth is unharmed (even though it manages to reach our hero's who are battling in the centre of the Earth while other planets get destroyed before the Sun even touches them). Add into that that your party gets hit with a high percentage grav attack meanwhile, Sephiroth, who is floating INSIDE the Sun doesn't get hurt at all!
Then of course, there's a few other fun examples. Like say in FF VIII where you have Eden. I have no idea what the hell Eden does, but it looks like he does something to morph the entire planet into something or other, and then detonates a nearby galaxy. And yet, strangely enough, the enemy gets dropped back where it was befre the summon only a few seconds after. (although, it does do a little bit more appropriate damage breaking the accursed 9999 limit).
Finally, some of the limit breaks in FF VIII (granted, only one, but I haven't seen Lionheart yet). Mainly just Blasting Zone. Why do you need a beam that extends out beyond the atmosphere? And when you bring it down, why does it not destroy anything beyond the battle area? I mean, you'd think that by using it in the deep sea research centre would bust the hull so that you'd flood the place.
Really, life was better in the days of FF VI summons where the worst that happened was intense magical damage to the battlefield and the summons all took less than a minute (this fact is what make sure Eden will never be that useful. By the time you get him, you can do more damage in the time it'll take to summon him than he'd do. And his summon time isn't worth the effort to get compatable with him).

I guess I killed him too quickly for him to use it more than once (w-summon + knights of the round junctioned to HP drain on all characters = dead anything)
Current Topic - Finally, a strip about those "destroy the entire universe" spells
