You know....

They could have stored them in the high-shelves like in FF7 at the Kalm inn >=) And if they are not smart enough to use a ladder or kick the shelves they actually may save the elixers from being stolen by adventurers LOL!

I've got one (from FFIX, no less.)

(So, of course, there may be spoilers. Don't read if you hate spoilers. Ok?)

Steiner: I am Sir Adelbert Steiner from Alexandria, Madam, and I humbly request that -

Annoying Red Mage NPC: Oh, God, not YOU again.

Steiner: ??? (Note: Don't ask me how he pronounced that.) But I only wanted to ask-

ARMNPC: Look, I don't want to go out with you until you get some new damn armor. And get rid of the stupid-looking chin implants, ok?

Steiner: What!? Chin implants!! (starts jumping up and down which can't be easy in full plate armor, but he does it anyway) I'll have you know -

Zidane: Hey, Rusty! We're leaving!

Steiner: What do you mean? Leaving? Without the Elixir?

Zidane: Forget the Elixir, let's go!

Dagger: Steiner! Come on!

Steiner: Y- yes, your- (gets a dirty look from Zidane) er, I mean Miss Dagger! (They all leave.)

ARMNPC: Thank goodness... worthless excuse for a - HEY! Where's my Elixir!?

(meanwhile, outside)

Dagger: (pulls out Elixir) Psst... Hey, Zidane, how'd I do?

Zidane: Psst... Not bad!

Dagger: Thanks! But... should we be taking stuff like this from people?

Zidane: Why not? We would've gotten it anyway if Rusty hadn't screwed the whole thing up!

Steiner: (gives Zidane a dirty look) Did you say something!?

Zidane: (rolls his eyes) Not a word.

... well, that was pointless.

Wally, who is still extremely pissed off that they totally screwed up Amano's design for Steiner in FFIX. X-p
(I wonder what would've happened if Zidane had been using a Bastard Sword? -_^ )

Omega (the FFVIII version) would win

February 8 2001, 9:16 AM

Considering there was no way aside from being EXTREMELY lucky to beat him without using the cheap invincibility items, he would win. Ozma is second… since a good strategy and high levels can win out as opposed to sheer luck (usually a combination of the 2). All the FFVII weapons were horribly easy (I'm seriously starting to think I'm the only one that junctioned Knights of the Round to HP drain). Omega and Shinryuu in FFV both have tricks to beating easily, as did Bahamut (the only thing close to an optional superboss) in FFIV. All the optional bosses in FFVI were pretty easy, but I remember there was this one regular monster named Intangir prior to the Kefka ruining the world that was pretty damn tough for the time that you fought him. I don't remember if instadeath spells worked or not (he was Vanished by default), I never tried… However, beating him with the standard attacks for that time in the game took an hour (maybe more, it was a long time ago… and that's not counting time spent developing a strategy that worked).

Of course, if you're judging by sheer strength (not by ease of beating in the settings of the game provided), FFVIII Omega is first, then Emerald and Ruby weapon, then all the others are in the same area (I think FFV Omega and Ozma had almost exactly the same number of hitpoints).

Omega has more HP for sure.

February 8 2001, 3:22 PM

Ozma has about 55,000 not much be remember there's nothing like Knights of the Round in FF9

Omega had 1,125,000 just to spite me. the extra 125,000 was just a slap in the face.

Ozma is going down after I get Quina leveled up (currently 41) since everyone is decently high leveled for me. Dunno if I'm gonna use Sarah (guess who I renamed), Vivi or Stiener. Aramant's iffy at best since Throw might work out.

Amarant worked well for me

February 9 2001, 12:06 AM

Steiner didn't work too well (low magic defense), but Amarant throwing rising suns (with power throw ability for good measure) and using aura (auto-life and regen for when someone dies) and revive as necessary. I think I had Eiko switched out for him when I actually won, though. Her 40% chance of insta-reviving everyone with phoenix after everyone dies (with 99 phoenix pinions) was a godsend. If you use Quina, be sure she's high enough level (or has caught enough frogs) that frog drop does a guaranteed 9999.

I'm nowhere near this battle yet, but...

February 9 2001, 11:33 AM

I dunno, I think that if you steal enough Zidane is going to be pretty good with a 9999 thievery attack. Vivi ought to also be a necessity as if you combine his water attack with Eiko's Carbunkle summon you've got cheap 9999 fun. Eiko can do the healing or just Holy in her spare time. And as in my party pretty much everybody already has auto-regen and auto-life, Aura would be useless for me. However, one thing I noticed is, if you give everybody auto-poition then even though it will do next to nothing, it will eat up a lot of time that you're still regenning in. Therefore, combined with auto-regen it will do tons o' healing.

Who will my fourth character be? Dunno yet, but everyone has a compelling reason of some sort so it'll probably depend on how I'm feeling when I reach that battle anyways.

Excal, who's thought way too hard about this.

Joe

I think you'll think differently when you try to fight him

February 9 2001, 5:56 PM

For this battle you NEED people who can do multiple things. Amarant can dish out damage, heal, revive, and apply auto-life (after losing it when you first die, and then die again, and again, and again). Zidane you are forced to have with you. Quina can do 9999 real cheap (5 or 10 MP depending on whether or not you have half-MP), cut down Ozma's MP by a LOT with magic hammer (not necessarily a good thing… he will eventually suck one of your party dry of MP), heal, apply Auto-Life, and cure everybody's status effects at once. The last slot was up for grabs. I chose Eiko because of the automatic Phoenix resurrections, but her damage sucked. I experimented with various characters in her spot, including Dagger, Steiner, and Vivi. At this point almost everyone had a guaranteed 9999 attack, so Vivi's wasn't necessary (since he couldn't hold his weight when it came to the need to heal). Steiner had too low magic defense, so he died a lot. Dagger did more damage than Eiko, and her summons were longer (which means more regen time), but it doesn't help if everyone is dead.

Heh my guys actually did well the 2nd try.

February 9 2001, 8:39 PM

All was going well considering I had the round bastard down by from 55,000 to about 25,000.

Then came curse and everyone died the end.

Keeping in mind that my party was: Zidane (duh), Sarah (come on guess who got renamed at Daguerreo), Vivi (Reflect x2 and auto-reflect plus the fact that he is immune to shadow magic along with Sarah and Zidane), and Stiener (who did 9999 with Shock every turn).

If only the bastard cast doomsday every turn but nooooooooooo for some reason he uses curse ALOT.

Funny how Kuja and Necron both got vaped by my HEAVY ASSAULT team there >:-)

You'd think that Ozma would be easier but alas, tis not the case. Ah well I'll think of something or get lucky, that's my way of course...

Might I suggest...

February 10 2001, 1:40 AM

If Curse is a problem, switch someone out for Quina. Angel's Snack will counteract all of the effects of Curse. I had great luck with Quina, Steiner, and Eiko... Shock, Holy, and Frog Drop, if it's any good, can take him down quicker than you might think. And don't forget Auto-Haste.

If you've got your Shadow-magic immunity and your Angel's Snack, your only really big worry should be Meteor. Mighty Guard and liberally applied Auto-Life, both Quina's, will remove that stress from your life, and with all luck Ozma will go down.

I'm not as huge a Quina fan as I seem to be, but s/he has two or three attacks which come in handy immensely in those tough battles.

But I still can't defeat three little Yans...

I think I managed to kill a group of three twice, but never with all of my party left (they kept blowing them away! GRRR!).

Joe
(Login _Joe_)

That's why I keep saying you need people that are good at multiple things

February 10 2001, 3:22 AM

Steiner's Shock is ok, but simply not worth the high MP cost. Switch him out for Quina, but 99 remedys, and use angel snack when you get cursed (and then apply auto-life liberally to all that died). Your basic goals should be to keep everyone auto-lifed, regened, and with no adverse status affects. Dealing damage is no good if you can't stick around to finish the job.

Also, be sure you have 99 phoenix pinions so phoenix has a higher chance of being summoned if everyone dies.

Yans suck

February 11 2001, 1:11 AM

I killed a group of 3 myself, using Odin, Grand Lethal, Shock, and Flare reflect x2 off Vivi.

Granted I did this before they could blow my guys away, and Odin killed only 2 of those little mofos
