1948 BOWMAN FB cards

A tough set to complete due to the short-printed cards of the 3rd series (which are the so-called
"divisible-by-3 cards".

Sammy Baugh (#22) and Bob Waterfield (#26) are the key cards in the 1st series.

Also shown here are the key cards from the 3rd series (from L to R)....

Johnny Lujack (#3)....Charley Conerly (#12)....Marshall Goldberg (#81)

Elmer Angsman (#102....Buford Ray (#108, last card in set)

1948 Football....JOE BRENNAN

August 29 2007, 8:34 AM

Sorry, I haven't responded to you sooner. yes, I also collected FB as a kid and most of my Bowman FB cards are in great shape.
I guess when I paid my pennies for them in the Fall back then, I opened the packs, and glanced at them, and put them away.
So, most of them are still in great shape.

Some of the 1948 Bowman's are my original, but many were upgraded in the early 1980's when I was putting this set together.

JOE

If you don't mind, I'd like to suggest this to you.....take a long break from the hobby.....and, that will give you a lot of time to
reconsider what you really want to do with your collection. I looked at all your T206's and they are a nice start on putting to-
gether a set. Working on this set (or others) is a great diversion from the stress of everyday life.

1948 Bowman FB....uncut 36-card sheet

September 7 2007, 1:34 AM

A complete 1st series, uncut sheet shown in a 1984 SCD article I wrote on this set. In the early '80s, I acquired all three
sheets of this set and this enabled me to explain the enigma of why 36 cards.....whose #'s are divisible by 3.....are much
tougher to find than the other 72 cards in this set.
