Is Your Collection Ready for Football Hall Call?

Part of the fun of buying vintage cards is figuring out which non-Hall of Famers might get the call--and a price boost.

The day before Super Bowl XLIII, the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced.

17 finalists will be considered by the Hall's Board of Selectors and the announcement made in Tampa that afternoon.

As few as four and as many as seven players could be elected.

The oldest rookie card in the finalst list belongs to Bob Hayes, who first appeared in the 1966 Philadelphia set. Hayes and Claude Humphrey are the two 'senior' nominees. Hayes was a huge part of the Cowboys offense during his career. He's apparently already in the collecting Hall of Fame. A PSA 8 Hayes rookie lists for $145 while a rare '9' checks in at a shocking $1100.
