VIOLATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh Guillory,
You are hereby charged with claiming a 1300 total when your official total is 1025. I will let you off with a warning since you are just a confused freshman, but I'll be keeping my eye on you. Smack talking is perfectly acceptable in this sport, but only one number counts in this sport....your official PR total.
Consider yourself warned!

Josh's official total is 1040 according to the copy of the Cup results I have. I'll concede that that's still a far cry from 1300 and the "rules" are still broken, but it is 15 pounds more than claimed.

First of all, periods and things (punctuation) and other rules of grammar were invented so that people can understand what others write. They should be used.

Secondly, if Trav hasn't made it up yet, he should make up another new rule saying: "Talking trash under a name that isn't your proper name or easily recognizable nickname is prohibited." What fun is it if no one knows who you are?

Lastly, who wants to talk about bench? We all know that the bench press is the leas important of the three powerlifts (although they are all important). Real men squat and deadlift (unless said real men are injured so that they can't)!

Travis,

1. Yes, I did total 1040lbs at the Cup. As far as Collegiate Nationals, I am shooting for a 1200lb-1300lb total.

2. Yes, I have not lifted that in a meet yet, but that is since I have only lifted in 1 meet.

3. I am though, looking at my numbers, from my sets at practice, and very much realistically, I shall hit those numbers at Collegiate Nationals!

Please stay tuned for this incredible feat of strength!!!

Brice is wrong

Brice, when people ask you "How much do you lift?" are they asking for your squat? Or deadlift? I think not! The people only want to hear one thing and that is "How much does a real man bench?". People don't care about squat, and deadlift so by this reasoning the bench is more important than the rest the other lifts.

We, however, are not the average man asking "How much do you lift?". We are powerlifters and the goal in a powerlifting competition is to achieve the best total. No man at the 2008 IPF men's worlds benched more than his squat or deadlift and won; all of the winning bench numbers were significantly lower than the squats and deadlifts. The muscles used in the squat and deadlift are simply bigger and stronger than those used for bench press, so they add more to your total and, in doing so, contribute more to the goal of winning the powerlifting meet.

Squat and deadlift add more to your total thereby increasing your chances of winning the meet and that makes them more important than bench press.

Ive narrowed down your two locations you posted on, to Lafayette in a building somewhere on Johnson st and somewhere in lake charles, louisiana. So it obvious you were somewhere near campus during the first post and go home to lake charles on the weekend. If yet to identify the picutre of the building where you were at when you first made your smart comment. Don't worry Ill soon have your name.

But no one said bench isn't important. All I (and, to my knowledge, anyone else) said was that bench isn't as important as squat and deadlift for the sport of powerlifting. Besides, I have one of the best collegiate bench presses in the 165s in the country, as far as I know; there are, though some, (like Sam) who bench more than me.

Kerry don't go back home and use your dads computer, then call your self Pepto and think we wont know it is you. Then you call Mike out when Mike did not say one thing. You better bring it Kerry if your going to talk trash about Mike because he has been training hard. What I heard Mike say about you is that you will never be best lifter as long as he is around.

Kerry I think you lost your mind on your birthday. I can't understand anything your posting on the message board. Why don't you post something when you sobered up. Because that last post of yours can only be the workings of a drunk man. And if you were not hiding why didn't you use your real name instead of this Pepto.
