Melissa Huckaby, 28, cries court Tuesday as she is formally charged in Sandra's death. Huckaby has a 5-year-old daughter who often played with Sandra. The woman's grandfather is the pastor of a local Baptist church, and Huckaby herself taught Sunday school there. The case has terrified residents of Tracy, a Northern California community of about 78,000 people.
Yes, to people like you, it's the end of the story. It makes it so easy to explain that kind of sickness away. You apparently believe the child was killed because her killer was Christian, yet you refuse to believe there is something called satan. How else better for satan to convince people like you to rebuke the word of God? Satan is happy. He has killed a child, destroyed lives, and convinced the weakminded to blame the wrong people.

For me evil is evil no matter who or what you call it and it has no boundaries as to who is affected. This particular case has made me wonder what the woman's own 5 year old daughter may have endured, what signs had been there that the circle of people around her had noticed and done nothing about....I also feel sorry for the woman with the same name who lives less than 25 miles away and is also a Sunday school teacher and is receiving death threats and being treated despicably just because of the association of having the same name. Common sense should tell them that if it were this woman she certainly would not be out in the community....but then common sense is lacking in so many. I hope nothing happens to this innocent woman because of some "righteous" nutcase and she should probably think about changing her name asap....even if she does that she will still have to take huge safety precautions for a long long time.
It is intersting that those who have rejected Christ seek to justify their decision by pointing to the failures of those who claim to be Christian.
If one would take the time to read the Bible, he/she would discover that the believers in the Old Testament were often failures. Moses didn't get to enter the Promised Land because he disobeyed God.
David killed Goliath because God was with him. Yet David sinned after that with both adultry and murder. I could go on and on.
Paul started many churches only to discover that false teachers had taken over at the first opportunity.
And the Book of Revelation tells about the church's infiltration of those who claim to be Jews who are nt Jews.
My point is simply this:
Jim is a pseudo intellectual who skims the surface of subjects and claims to be an expert.
Did you look up the difference between restrictive and non restrictive clauses?
....I also feel sorry for the woman with the same name who lives less than 25 miles away and is also a Sunday school teacher and is receiving death threats and being treated despicably just because of the association of having the same name.
People feel the need to strike out, and it doesn't matter who the target is. Back in the 90's the woman named Susan Smith drowned her boys in the car....I believe it was in North Carolina or somewhere in the south. We had a girl working with us named Susan Smith...in Oklahoma. She got ugly letters and phone calls. Can you believe that? This is exactly the same thing as Jim posting about Christians. He feels the need to strike out at anyone who claims to be one, when it is one evil soul who committed the crime.

I would expect that non Christians are more likely to act in the carnal minded manner. Christians would not terrorize people wi9th the same name because people are responsible for their own sins, yeildind to temptations, and repenting of their own sins.
But if there is a bad policemam, they are all judged as bad. Recall how all of the Republicans were evil because Karl Rove was assumedf to be evil/
It is humannature--not divine nature that jugges all guilty because one is evil.
I guess it depends on whose ox is being gored. When he paints Christians with his rude broad brush it doesn't bother you....but I am sure there are subjects you take issue with. You DID happen to notice the SUBJECT of the thread, right?

I did notice the subject Susan.....I didn't take it the same way you did obviously. I took it as knowing that regardless whether one is Christian or not they will be paying attention and maybe take some action when things don't appear right....to me it is no different than giving teachers, coaches, politicians the same "lump in a basket" mentality that so many have. There certainly have been just as many "Christians, preachers etc" involved in lewd and murderous actions as any other classification. No one is exempt just because of their class, profession or religion!

I think the point might be that the same things can be said about *people*. So why single out "Christians" in this case, or teachers, coaches, and politicians in others?

Because that would defeat the purpose of the post.
