Spector joins the Democrats! Yeah! He's a great, intelligent moderate and a welcome addition to the party. They should give him a chairmanship!

Just heard, and had to check to see what everyone is saying about this.

IMO Just more politics as usual but I do wonder if Glenn Beck saw this coming when gazing into his crystal ball. For more on what Beck has to say about America's future see him at the link below.

Nothing to get excited about Spector has been a RAT for a long time....he should have been honest enough to go over to the democRAT party a long time ago.

I'm glad to see the bastard gone and hope he's as worthless to the leftist as he's been to the Republicans....LOL! and he's only going because he knows his liberal ass is on the way out anyway...he couldn't win a Republican Primary against a corpse (even though he damn sure resembles one!) Glad to see him gone...maybe those two magpies from the northeast will join him and leave the party!

Now the Republican party will finance Normie to keep filing bogus law suits until the sun goes out.

Simple answer to that (although I don't know if Harry Reid has the balls to do it) - The Dems refuse to pass a new organizing resolution unless it seats Franken. The Republicans could stick to their guns, but then Specter keeps all his committee slots.

Spector knew he wasn't getting reelected without doing it.  But it's all good.  He belonged there to begin with.

Keeping his job is more important to Specter than any pretended semblance of conservative values.  It's a change in label only; he hasn't been a Republican for a long, long time.

That is absolutely true in the sense that you mean it Carolyn.  Nor are Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, or really, Lisa Murkowski.  Please drum them out of the corp as well.

There are plenty of Blue Dog Dems who will push back on spending excesses.  I identify more with them than I do many Republicans.

I wish I knew where those "Blue Dog Dems" were the past 8 years.

There's spending ... and then there's spending.  Bush was an amateur compared to this guy.

More info on the Specter spectacle. Here are a few snippets and the link.

Sen. Specter bolts GOP, becomes Democrat
Posted: 04/28/09 12:08 PM [ET]

Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) is leaving the Republican Party and will run in the Democratic primary in 2010 -- with President Obama offering to help him on the campaign trail.

Senate Republicans are holding an emergency meeting to discuss the matter.

"My change in party affiliation does not mean that I will be a party-line voter any more for the Democrats that I have been for the Republicans. Unlike Senator Jeffords switch which changed party control, I will not be an automatic 60th vote for cloture. For example, my position on Employees Free Choice (Card Check) will not change.
