Bogus e-mail

Barb  (Login barbhardi)

Just wanted to give you a heads up on my hotmail account. If you have received an e-mail that appears to be from me at my hotmail account, and it is an advertisement or something soliciting sales or donations -- whatever -- it DID NOT originate with me.

Didn't receive any, Barb....but someone else told me just lately that their hotmail account got hacked into.  What is up with all of this, anyway?  Deperation?

Off to the pier and dinner.

I don't know what's going on with Hotmail, Mari. When I checked that account -- which I only do about once or twice a month, to get rid of the spam -- I saw that my "vacation reminder" was "on" and there was a message there that I did not put on there. It was a sales pitch for some electronics, etc. The best I could tell, it showed origins in China. Some folks were rather upset, thinking I had tried to sell them something! LOL! As I said, it's just a throwaway account, and I think I'll just close it anyway.

Close it, please.  If someone hacked that far into you, they are dangerous.  These cyber terrorists are sick but not stupid.

Well, this pretty well explains it. It shows exactly the message that was entered as my autoresponse. I hope those who were bent out of shape by receiving this now understand that I truly did not instigate this.

Inka, while deleting messages in my hotmail account I saw several people from the boards who had received that message. I've closed the account so I hope that takes care of the problem.

P.S. If you have a Hotmail account, it might be a good idea to check your "vacation response" and see if it has been hijacked too. I didn't even know mine had been until I started checking out the account.

The same thing happened to my sister in law about a year ago. It was her yahoo account. I knew she wasn't sending the spam because she was in the nursing home. It took the longest time to convince her Husband and sons that this needed taking care of.

I also got that message from you Barb. I even replied to you. Thanks for straigtening it out. It didn't seem like you when I got it, but replied to you anyway.

It also was in my hotmail acct. I use that site for my throw away mail anyway.
