Liberals want to tax soda to pay for government-run health care
During the presidential campaign of 2008, Barack Obama pledged that those making below $250,000 would not see their taxes go up one dime. He promised to cut taxes for the middle class and poor people. But if his friends in Congress get their way, President Obama will have a tough decision to make whether to break his campaign pledge again in the form of higher taxes on soda and sugary drinks like sports and energy drinks.
Some liberals in Congress have proposed paying for government-run health care by hiking taxes on soft drinks and other beverages. Because the socialized health care schemes being considered will cost at least a trillion dollars, liberal politicians are looking for ways to pay for their schemes without upsetting too many folks. So they think that a tax on soft drinks is better than any other type of tax. They are wrong, and need to understand this message loud and clear: NO NEW TAXES!
As if government-run health care werent bad enough in terms of quality, now we have another reason to stop it dead in its tracks. Paying for government-run health care will cost every American that enjoys soft drinks, or even sports and energy drinks. This tax and spend scheme is typical of liberals, and only reinforces my belief that this is about them increasing their power, and their control over our lives. We cant let them get away with it anymore. TAKE ACTION!
The battle against higher taxes and government-run health care is just beginning. But if we can stand together and show our opposition loud enough, we just might be able to defend liberty, and keep more money in our pockets as well.

LOL! But...95% of Americans are getting tax cuts aren't they?...and ironically I don't believe the tax is going to be on Diet drinks and yet from the looks of'em Obama voters don't drink diet drinks! Lordy! Lordy! Lordy! New Boss Same As The Old Boss...he's just going to spend more and for damn sure tax more!...and of course he's not Bush...and that to the hamsters is what matters de most no matter what it costs them!

Obesity is a major and a costly problem for health care, as much, if not more so, than cigarettes and alcohol. I think they should tax fast food such as 10% more if you insist on meted cheese or gravy on your freedom fries. Also, charging 50% more on busses for those fat asses that take up 1 1/2 seats and squash the hell out of the poor unfortunate person next to them. I used to think it was a problem unique to NY because of the proliferation of places to pig out. But I have been to San Francisco, Atlanta, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Nevada, Arizona, all over the northeast and Puerto Rico the last couple of years, and the one fact was that one half to three quarters of the populace have humongous fat asses.

LOL! Hey sport, what do you think here? Is obesity the result of learned behavior, and cultural influences, or is it the results of a particular genetic blueprint? You of all people should be *very* careful about how you answer that.*chortle*

Sorry to disappoint you, spurt (sic), but my weight is pretty good since I dropped most of my hormone induced female fat. We always ate big when we were kids, but I haven't had pizza in over 2 months and I have never eaten a french fry with anything but salt and pepper on it. Like most skinny kids, my metabolism slowed a bit at age 30 and I started gaining weight. But, since I have intelligence on my side, I started working out 40 years ago and kept my weight down since. And if you feel that more than 50% of the American people have a "genetic blueprint" for obesity, I think you are most likely scrambling for justification of your own weight issues. And why me "of all people". You don't even have a clue as to what I look like, eat or do about it. See why people consider you a pompous ass? Gotta run now, it's a workout day, especially after last evening's Yelp! party. What will you be doing? Pffft, short, chortle, fart!

Good grief... Someday, I have *got* to quit underestimating the depths to which cluenessness can sink. It isn't about your *weight* sport! Gheezuz... It is *you of all people* because of your "alternative lifestyle"! You see, sport, the battle continues to rage over the nature vs nurture origins of homosexuality. And since one would assume that this might be an issue of interest to you, one would then foolishly assume that you might be a little more tuned in, and sensitive to similar debates over issues like obesity, addictive personalities, etc. Totally true to form, however, you are more than happy to step up, and remove any and all doubt that you are entirely too God damned stupid and arrogant to *ever* exhibit any form of sensitivity and introspection whatsoever. Bash, defame, insult, and be cruel to, anybody and everybody that you aren't likely to meet at your Yelp! parties, all in the name of coolness. You are a shallow, stupid fool, neither "cute", nor "witty", just bitter and hatefull. To steal from the master, how it must suck to be you.(no pun intended)
BTW. Not that it matters, or is any of your business, but I am very much weight proportional for my age and height.

And true to form, you still come across as a self aggrandizing pompous ass. The time you take to explain your warped thinking is totally mind boggling. You evidently love reading your own posts since you think they are profound comments from a self proclaimed pillar of intellect when they are merely drivel coming from a sad little person who sits at a keyboard 24/7 just trying to make himself look superior by demeaning others. I am very tuned in to most people's problems, much more than you are, and I see people who are severely obese at the gym all the time. They are there to help themselves and they deserve support and respect. If someone is walking down the street, tipping the scales at 400 pounds and shoving McDonald's fries in their face...I have a problem respecting them and I readily admit that. And, as far as my sexual orientation is concerned, you are evidently more interested in that than I am. I often wonder why, but I won't really ever understand the bitterness and morbid curiosity of a social non-participant, keyboard jockey like you. No, my dear, it does not suck to be me, it sucks to be you (no pun intended). We are just doing fine here in NYC and have been for 30 years, while you sit, wherever you are, spouting your fountain of venom at anyone who doesn't share your hatred of other people.
Have a nice day. Unlike you, I have better stuff to do. Pffft, snort, chortle, fart!.

Well sport, I have never posted anything remotely like your paragraphs below in my life. You on the other hand, from a simple search, would appear to do little else. I think I'll rest my case on that, the reality of what you write is a tough one to deny, try as you might. A *lot* of intellectual content here. *chortle*

simple solution gus, don't tax people tax actions that lead to obesity. Tax oh I don't know how about high fructose corn sugar so that any product with it in will cost more. Require people above a certain size to pay for two seats if they are making the seat next to them less than usable. On the other hand make sure that companies that sell/rent you the seating have adequately sized that seating.
etc etc etc. Provide a whole lot of opportunities to indulge in the 7 deadly sins and tax the shit out of them.

Actually, I already pay state taxes on soda pop. In Indiana, it is not on the excluded list of grocery items that are non-taxable. (And I don't have a problem with that.)

But, you're not paying a surtax on sugar containing items are you? I doubt that this bill will pass. I would not encourage my Congressional delegation to vote for it.

Whatever you say, Pauline Pompous. You need to get a life. The last thing in the world I would waste valuable time doing is digging up posts from someone who you think is inferior but with whom you are still obsessed. The point I am making is that I find it sad and totally pathetic that you sit here all day doing that kind of shit. It is a sign of a person who is incapable of face to face social contact. Push yourself away from the computer which, I'm afraid is becoming your reason to live. And, if you check the times, I am on line here about 1-2 hours a day compared to your 10-12 hours. Having a life is good. Try it sometime. Pffft, snort, chortle, fart!

Sorry, sport, but it's people like you and the general, who spend much of your time here singing your own praises, and rhapsodizing over your sparkling lives, that give rise to suspicions that are subject to amateur psychoanalysis. There are *reasons* for why I know so much about you, and you are left with nothing but to reveal even more stupidity with your juvenile speculations about me. See how that works? *chortle*, I doubt it...
Gussy girl, you are not even making sense anymore. Your remarks are so muddled, no meaning comes through. It looks like early dementia to me. You really need to get some friends or something so you can do something besides sit at your keyboard. I wouldn't bet on it though. You wake up, get on line spouting pomposity, take a dump and a shower, then sit at the screen until lunch time, breaking only for meals and bathroom breaks until you finally get tired and go to bed. That's your life in a nutshell and I'd love to see you prove otherwise. Very sad and lonely is your life, if you can call it that. Get help.

Well, ab, when Obama made this pledge, the economy wasn't quite in the toilet as it is now, thanks to bushit and his *the economy is just fine,* do-nothing attitude.
America, we are better than these last eight years. We are a better country than this.
