Honor Flights

I received a call from my son last night and he told me about about the first Honor Flight he flew (from Chicago).  Honor flights take WWII veterans to Washington DC to visit their Memorial, free of charge.  There were 24 vets in wheelchairs to board, since these vets were mostly in their 80s and 90s.  Most were accompanied by a grandchild, some by a son or daughter, a few by spouses. He greeted each one with a handshake, took pictures, posed for pictures and reveled in their tales. He also flew the return trip back to Chicago in the evening and commented that it was the most inspiring trip he ever had.

The pilot had him do the in-flight audio to the veterans and families welcoming them and thanking them for their service, since he was in the military for 12 years.

There is more information about these Honor Flights at  http://www.honorflight.org/about/

Thanks so much for sharing your son's honor flight story. I went to the site and read of the beginnings of the Honor Flights, very touching. And for me, please thank your son for his 12 years of service to his country.

Absolutely beautiful moonie. What a wonderful thing to do. I've enjoyed your sons accomplishments over the years. And the pictures.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent
