Wild hogs cause $400 million of damage each year in Texas.
The Texas House on Thursday tentatively approved a bill encouraging hunters to take on wild pigs from the air.
Rep. Sid Miller, R-Stephenville, said the measure would allow landowners -- who can get a permit to control feral hog populations from a helicopter -- to sell seats on the helicopter to some hunters.
The animals -- weighing up to 300 pounds -- destroy crops, trample fences and eat anything in their path.
Miller said his bill would allow landowners to recoup their losses -- and possibly make a profit -- while protecting their property from the hogs. He said more than 2 million hogs across Texas cause $400 million of damage each year.
Some detractors argued that allowing farmers to make a profit created a new area of sport hunting that was passed off as population control.
I don't see whats wrong with it as long as farmers/game preserve operators are not allowed to breed more hogs. This should eliminate a major menace. The pigs in the wild are not very nice and they are quite smart. The thought of drunken texans crashing as they try to bring home the bacon has some appeal also.

private property rights for individuals
That is liberalism
j2
hahahahahaha
liberalism is about private property rights and individual liberty?
It is not their right to start shooting on property that is not theirs... and it is really hard to track property lines in a plane, while Bubba and Buford, all liqoured up and loaded for bear, decide to go "Shoots some pigs".
Do you even LIVE in Texas, or are you just spewing your BULLCRAP from another state, with no vote on the matter?
that's where you miss the boat gillis. It does not matter what the game farms do, the game animals get off the property. If the notion is to reduce the number of feral hogs, then steps must be taken not to turn it into an industry. your lack of reading and logical skills leads you into mistake after mistake. Hogs harm others, that is in the article you posted. You are not free to harm others by breeding more hogs, even if it makes you money. You have just demonstrated how conservatism is actually fascism. You, youself, thinking you are a libertarian actually espouse anarchy while the movement you support uses you to destroy the United States.

what a mind picture, bush is cutting brush and dickie chaney is flying overhead looking for hogs, he sees rush but in his excitement fails to see the little bushie in the way.

I think this plan to exterminate the powerful feral hog is simply a cover for the air-to-ground combat practice of the Texas Secession Army.
Texans have more in common with their long-toothed wild boar than with the little pink piglets of Washington DC.

skippy---Hindu? Nah I think not. If you were skippy you'd know that the amusement you found in my karma paid the karmic debt I incurred for finding amusement in the supposed karma of the America haters.
if that's all zen, I'm sorry to drag you into secular humorism.

this question is from severe ignorance
if you are not a lawyer can you have an opinion on any legal stories?
if you are not in the military ,can you have an opinion on war?
if you live in tennessee can you have an opinion on california...
do you refrain from commenting on medical discussions because you are not a surgeon ?(i am assuming the surgeon part ....but it is to make a point)
Like the question about whether you live in Texas didn't need to be asked, a response to you wasn't required either, in fact no response was the very best of responses.

Sorry that I missed this earlier... I was helping with a calving... which is more than enough bovine excrement for one day.
I do not get G's rude remarks. His location seems to be a matter that he considers worth attacking over.
I do not know where most of y'all live, except for the ladies that get together at another board... a board when my membership is still pending... hint hint.
My neighbor and his friends run hog traps through several places near here. Almost daily, he has been bring live hogs through the area, on the way to be slaughtered.
He caught 11 piglets in night...
That will show you why so many are concerned with this matter... and want a better option than Gomer and Goober getting liquored up, and then climbing into a plane, or helicopter with a gun.
