"Reagan was an exceedingly likeable guy, just a heck of a nice fellow, despite his politics. He was funny and loved a good joke, the dirtier, I'm afraid the more ethnic, the better. I don't think he brought very much to the presidency, except charisma and success."
Walter Cronkite on the Discovery Channel's Cronkite Remembers, May 23, 1996.
Cronkite was a thinly-disguised moonbat. This is the kind of language that betrays a moonbat heart, but sadly, while it comes from their heart, it goes over their head.
Cronkite said Reagan was... "A nice fellow despite his politics..." So Cronkite discrminated by virture of his liberal politics. Despite being a conservative, Reagan was a nice fellow. So who is going to claim Cronkite reported from a subjective point of view?
And then this is just pure moonbattery: "I don't think he brought much to the presidency except charisma and success."
Success is just fine with me, Walter! In fact, I feel anyone who brought success to the presidency is great. And so should have Walter Cronkite felt!
We can treasure Walter Cronkite as war-time reporter and a long-time anchor man many of us grew up with. But let's not be afraid to admit what he was: A big time liberal with his hands on the throat of the United States media.
