34 hospitalized after co-worker sprays perfume
Investigators don't know what type was sprayed

There are some really toxic scents out there....I've walked into elevators where someone had to have bathed or sprayed too much to hide the body odor and had to walk right back out because the scent made me so physically ill.

They are definitely using some bad stuff in perfumes these days!!  Sometimes someone will walk past me and I have an attack that lasts for an hour.  My daughter had some Tommy Hillfiger stuff and we had to ban it from the house.  The minute she sprayed it in her bedroom, Mike and I immediately got a headache.  Nothing else of hers bothered us.

I agree. Some perfumes can be quite offensive, and irritating. One of the worst to be is any perfumed AVON powder.

Have you ever had to manage a group of people?

Invariably, there is a woman in the group who likes a certain fragrance or moisturizer that sets off another woman's allergies. Untangling a mess like that is dangerous for a manager! Once the allergic person has complained to you, you have to act, or accomodate her in some way.

Sheesh.

That's second worse to this management challenge: A group of data entry people composed of 30% menapausal women. Oh, the bloody battles over the airconditioning! Nasty!

Wait a second here! Did you ever stand next to some guy who has to much cologne on? Not to offend any guy here who might still wear musk! I had a customer yesterday that had so much musk on he smelt like a skunk that had peed himself! I wanted to throw up but I couldn't stop sneezing long enough to do so! JHC he smelt like he took a shower in it! Or maybe he didn't take a shower and thought he could cover it up with musk? With the amount of gel in his hair maybe he put it in his hair also. It was just nasty! I am not one for all that perfume and cologne because of my allergies. The only thing I wear is My Desire from Victoria Secrets.
Moniker if you know what is good for you don't mess with the AC. The partimer I work with tried telling me she was cold Tuesday night. I told her do some work she won't be cold. It was only set on 72! To think I used to laugh at my Mom for this! Pay backs are a bitch!

My husband never wants to Christmas shop with me. Last year I insisted he come to the mall with me. We walked into Macy's and a women sprayed this awful fragrance our way. He was soooooo pissed off I thought he was going to knock this women out. It caused him to have such an asthma attack that he had to be taken to the medical office at the mall. Umm we never did shop and I highly doubt he will go again this year!

I have had 4 bottles of cologne on my bathroom shelf for a couple of years now.  I keep them there because they look good.  Once in a while, I spray a squirt of the Paul Sebastion on my hair, never on the skin and never more than one spritz.  I would never use any when going to the theater, restaurant or a hospital.  I mean, really, I shower every day and twice if I go to the gym and I use a deodorant (allergic to anti-persperants) and I smell like jasmine wafting over the Yangtsee river.  LOL!  We even use Ivory soap because it has very little fragrance and no allergenics.

I had an employee who was rather heavy. He wasn't the most productive worker, but he was the union shop steward so I had to handle him with kid gloves.

The problem was that he didn't seem to bathe everyday, and he compensated for that with healthy doses of after shave and cologne. Whew! It just compunded the error.

I fainally had enough gumption to ask him into my office for a chat. I put a bar of soap in the middle of my desk and told him he had to use it every day before he came to work.

He didn't complain to the union, I was saved from another long trip to headquarters to bow and scrape and promise to be better to the employees, and everyone who worked near him was very happy.

Lasted a week or two.

The soap bar probably shrank to nothing.  I would put it in a tickler file with a two wek cycle.  LOL!  One thing worst than halitosis is BO.
