My Senate amendment simply puts health care choices back in the hands of the individual and allows them to consider if they so choose a living will or durable power of attorney.
Well, I've been wrong about a thing or two in my lifetime, but I never believed I was not free to choose to have a living will or durable power of attorney or DNR orders. This is nothing new. Those things have been around a looonnngggg time, and there are several entities -- at least in our community -- that take the time to educate people to this choice; i.e., Senior Citizen Centes; EMS campaigns, etc. But perhaps that's just in my little corner of heaven.
