I haven't had time to read the entire article, although the first line, quoted below, seems to say it all ... kind of like President GW Bush using up his "mandate" on the Iraqi war?

Health Debate Fails to Ignite Obama's Web
By JEFF ZELENY
The grass-roots enthusiasm of the campaign has not carried
over to efforts to overhaul the health care system.

It's amazing that so many Democratic Party members are surprised at what they elected. From the article:

Organizing for America has paid political directors in 44 states, Mr. Stewart said. In recent months the groups strategy has changed. Gone are the television commercials on health care, climate change and other issues that were broadcast in an effort to pressure moderate Democrats to support the presidents proposals. Now, after the White House received an earful from some of those Democrats, the group has started running advertisements of appreciation.

Even if they arent 100 percent on board, were asking our folks to thank our members, Mr. Stewart said. Our tactics are continuing to evolve.

Advertisements of appreciation?

Amazing. The tide is turning a lot sooner than I thought it would.
