It's an anecdotal example of a situation in need of reform. So how best to reform it? Olson's point, however badly presented, is that a single-payer government system is *not* the way, on the contrary, it would only make the situation more common.

Even if true (and we don't know that), this woman's story is a condemnation of the PRIVATE SYSTEM! ... So, Olson is saying, [in essence], if you want your in-utero baby to die, stick with the current system, and if you also want your in-utero baby to die (no typo), then go with the new system?? HUH?
