He's losing the Independents too ...

Over the course of this summer, President Obama's approval ratings have plummeted among independent voters -- the largest and fastest-growing segment of the American electorate.

In May, 66 percent of independents approved of Obama's job performance, according to the Gallup Poll.

By August, Gallup showed the president was supported by 49 percent of independents, a collapse during the health care debate that reflects independents' dislike of deficit spending, the growth of big government and one-party control of Washington.

It's a particular problem for Obama because post-honeymoon perceptions are hardening in ways that are counter to his core campaign promise to bridge partisan divides.

Obama introduced himself to the American people by saying, "There are no red states; there are no blue states; there is only the United States of America."

The reason....

September 5 2009, 7:09 PM

....Obama is losing Dems and Independents is because he's actually listening to IRRELEVANT Republicans instead of doing exactly what he said in his campaign speeches.  Of course, I know that NO politician keeps all of his promised, but Obama needs to back away now from some of the "bipartisan" nonsense, imo, since all the Republicans have shown that they want is to OBSTRUCT anything at all that President Obama wants to accomplish.

Obama has the Democrat numbers in both the House and the Senate to pass anything he and they want.  What do the Republicans have to do with it?

The point we're both making is that for some stupid reason, both Obama and an important segment of Senate Democrats are insisting on trying to work with Republicans despite their completely obstructionist stance. Saying that Democrats could do what we say they ought to do is no refutation.

No, I think the Republicans are basically sitting on their hands while Obama and the Congressional leaders are trying to rally a fair number of Democrats who are in mortal fear of losing their jobs.  I really don't think you can blame Republicans this time.  It's We The People, not the Republicans, that have struck fear in the hearts of Democrats.

i agree

dig dig dig

the hole keeps growing

far left agenda gets more and more exposed every day

the reasonable people in America need to see the true exposure of the left as they are in actual action...not just media driven stories about it...

the cat , then being out of the bag will be exposed for what it is...not what it is sold as

I think Obama needs to steam headlong into his true agenda unhindered by the conservatives until his true motives become starkly apparent to all Americans

then it will be decades before anyone of his far left genesis is elected again as America recovers from the destruction liberal policies wreak upon our culture and economy
