North Carolina church plans Halloween Bible burning
Marc Grizzard, the pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina, says that he and his congregation plan to burn Bibles on Halloween.

Marc Grizzard, of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina, says that the first King James translation of the Bible is the only true declaration of Gods word, and that all others are satanic.
Pastor Grizzard and 14 other members of the church plan to burn copies of the other perversions of Scripture on Halloween, 31 October.

The New Revised Version Bible, the American Standard Version Bible, and even the New King James Version are all pronounced to be works of the Devil by Pastor Grizzard and his followers.

Pastor Grizzard said: I believe the King James version is Gods preserved, inspired, inerrant, infallible word of God for English-speaking people.
We are burning books that we believe to be Satanic.

As well as inappropriate translations from the original Hebrew and Aramaic, the pastor and his associates will be burning books by various Christian authors, as well as music of every genre.

[We will be burning] books by a lot of different authors who we consider heretics, such as Billy Graham, Rick Warren the list goes on and on, Pastor Grizzard told reporters.

Mother Teresa is also on the list of Satanic authors. The full list is available at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church's website.

Not all Canton residents are thrilled with the bonfire of the profanities. Judy Kirby, a local, said: I think some of the newer versions make it easier for people to understand.

The book-burning is hoped to be a social event, with a barbecue laid on for attendees. It is not clear whether the meat will be grilled over the heat of burning Gospels.

Hmmm. Is it clear whether the "meat" will be human or animal?

Well Janie once again you reveal your ignorance.

Just which Baptist do you recommend we shun....the wackos like this group, the very conservative, the very liberal or the ones in between.

If you knew even a fraction of what you think you know you'd most likely be the smartest women in the world....wonder how Marilyn vos Savant would feel about that.

Janie should we shun all religious groups who think their word is the only true word of God?

should we shun all political groups who believe their political/economic solution is the "only one that will work" for America?

with this comment ...you reveal a great deal about yourself and the way you ..."think"

They have the right to burn whatever books they want, provided they follow the local laws concerning setting fires.

We have the right to shun their religion or any other religion if we want. We also have the right to complain about their religion, one which I exercise liberally.

However at the BBQ I will have my steak medium rare please.

They already DO that now, Alice....and you should be aware of that FACT, too.

Exactly how am I being "ignorant", puspockets....or is it that you don't even know the definition of the word "ignorant" ?

gillis; and citizens who haven't discovered that socialism is also a cult

No, Socialism is not a cult. Do yourself a favor, invest in a dictionary.

*****************

Socialism refers to various theories of economic organization advocating public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended.

Cult A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

******************************

gillis; just like religion

So if what you say is true that "religion is just like Socialism" does religion also fail every time?

gillis; but one proven to fail every time it's tried

When are you going to grow up and admit that you live under a form of Socialism now and have all of your life? Seriously... be a man of principle... You hate Socialism... leave this Damned Socialist Country! I know that many in your family have in the past and do to this day enjoy the handouts given to them by your nanny state government just as you will when you can and if you haven't already.

considered to be extremist or false

socialism fails

every time it is attempted

usually with murderous results

Mao

stalin

if it fails..
the belief that it will work ...is false

if it gets millions killed when it is attempted...
it is extremist

give them a few more years

the producers will get tired of their efforts going tot the moochers and being stolen by the looters for votes....then the producers will either revolt or just quit....then the system will not remain
socialism is not sustainable

...is the only "correct" version?    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!  Just one MORE reason to shun the Baptists.

Pfffft.  Living in the Bible belt, I can ASSURE you there are very few Baptist churches who adhere strictly to the KJV Bible.  In fact, my sister-in-law's church brags that they are the ONLY church in a 100 mile radius that strictly reads the KJV.  Of course, it is their perogitive...and it is the choice for people to attend.  So to say this is a reason to "shun" the Baptists, is a naive statement, made by someone who evidently knows nothing about Baptists....(and no, I am absolutely not a baptist)

That's what's wrong with this country, every thing has to be easy. For crying out loud, there's a concordance in your bible and referrences on the side for you to look up to get the meaning. When we become too lazy to do our own researching to understand the bible the devil will fill it in for you. It is better to stick to the KJV and study it yourself and forget revisions, too much false doctrine can creep in. The bible says not to be tempted and this is certainly a temptation.
