I wrote once before but didn't get any feed back . My Son Keith R Brown was sentenced to life in prison plus . There was a man shot and my son was not even there when the shooting occurred .He was not in the car that picked the man up that was shot . But due to a prosecutor who knows no meaning to the word justice was put on trial because he wouldn't take a plea bargain and admit to having a part in it .I didn't have the money to get him a good lawyer due to the fact that I have been fighting cancer and a heart condition , and my medical bills have been very high . I thought that the court appointed lawyer that he was assigned would fight for him . But that wasn't the case .He was given names and a calling card number that he should have subpoenaed to prove my sons innocence . He never brought any of it forth to do that . The man who drove the car to pick the man up who was shot , took a plea bargain for 30 years to testify that my son was involved by paying him $100 . He had said before that he never got any money . But admitted on the stand that he said what the prosecutor wanted him to say because they threatened to take his plea bargain away .
He can be out in as little as 5 years . The man who did the shooting has said in two depositions that my son was not involved and knew nothing about it . That a man who was the victims step brother paid him with money and drugs to do it because his step brother had stolen money and drugs from him . After more then a year he has been picked up . And the man who did the shooting is going to testify against him . My son has been in prison now 2years and his case is in appeal . But I wonder if the Appellate lawyer will do any better at representing him? They say a hearing on his case could be several months or more down the road . Its some what frustrating that they only spent 2 days convicting him with tainted and coerced testimony and he has already been incarcerated 2 years .
