it makes the first stage more resistant than most like....my first stage was heavier than the 2nd, which didn't work out well, as I missed the 2nd stage bump many times....it's a lawyer modification...lol....but, if you remove it and put a spacer in it's place, the first stage is a very light resistance...just enough to reset the trigger as needed....once that is done, there is no trigger better than the Mrod's on the market IMO....it's truly a joy to shoot.....
