It depends on the gun.

One of mine only shoots well with a free floated barrel. The other shoots very well with the stock band in the stock location. Can not say why... just the way they are.

The one that needs to be free floated is an early production model and the other is a two or three years newer. But both are very accurate.

The 22 is a 19fpe gun and I have the 177 tuned down for close range target practice. They both shoot way better than me.

Recently I purchased a scale. Found even better accuracy shooting sorted pellets.
