Hey, no charge!

You did the hard part here.

As well as the lead in some other interesting/useful issues.

Thanks for playing, it's a pleasure to hold your coat as they say. Keep your left (and chin) up.

Thanks for the info, I just made this one

July 3 2009, 10:47 PM

The pics a little dark, but it's similar to the white one on page 4 of the link, a piece of delrin with 2  o-rings for a snug fit in the tube. No more ping.  The only way it's ever coming back out will be via a threaded rod through the center hole to yank it out if I don't want to disassemble the back end..

Wonderful thread..........I think?????????

July 4 2009, 9:52 AM

Pretend that someone has a Marauder and would love to deping it, but they have never disassembled the gun. That's me. I don't even know where the depinger goes. Can someone take pictures of what disassembly and reassembly is needed, dimensions of the depinger, and step by step instructions for a "concrete sequential" learner like me? Many thanks!

The idea....

July 4 2009, 5:09 PM

The idea is to unscrew the fill fitting from the tube (after being very very sure it's empty of course), it should not be very tight. You can use the barrel band as a wrench by loosening the two set screws and pulling it off then putting it back on upside down (so it doens't go around the barrel), tighten the screws again before using it for leverage to get things going.

Then you insert the unit into the tube. Guys have used all sorts of stuff, the basic idea is to loosely block the tube (has a hole in it) somewhere near the middle with something that doesn't move. It kills the 'echo' in the tube as the air is let out.

Hopefully someone who's done it can provide exact details on how they did it (not that I think there might be many ways to skin this cat....), but that's the idea and where it goes.

Can you guys please describe this ping sound?

July 6 2009, 11:41 AM

Mine makes a subdued, spring-like "Ting" sound. Nothing objectionable when you are used to loud CO2 cracks, PCP bangs, etc. Is this the pinging echo you guys are discussing?

The reservoir tube does vibrant slightly on firing, but I had no idea the sound could be coming from the tube. I thought it was the hammer spring, instead.

Making a delrin barrel depinger with two o-rings is simple enough, but I wonder if the volume of the part decreases reservoir capacity resulting in lesser shot count.

It probably varies in loudness between guns

July 6 2009, 1:57 PM

" Ping " pretty much describes the sound, mine was at least as loud as the muzzle report, which of course is subdued on a Marauder. Now that the ping is gone I notice the muzzle report a little more, heheh.  If yours doesn't bother you, leave it alone.

I don't think the depinger has affected the # of shots significantly.
