I have #159 in ,177 and I am very happy with it. I've seen many posted pics by other members and all the barrels and receivers in the pics look black.
Well, mine has a deep purple color. Do I have a "one of a kind" fluke? The air chamber and every other metal part is definitely black. Anybody else with a purple barrel and reciver?
Really, I should have said more correctly the "shroud"

is purple, as well as the receiver. You could definitely pick mine out of a rack of Marauders. I've never learned to post pictures, even for emails, but maybe I can have my wife help me. I assume these parts are "anodized" aluminum" and something went wrong: but, with only one, mine? I have seen poorly reblued guns with a similar purplish cast.
Mine has a slight purple hue to the shroud&receiver

I definitely don't think it's bad enough to go to the expense of sending it back, might get another problem with a replacement. I'm keeping it but I ordered another one, maybe to use CO2 with or tune down or whatever. I'll be interested to see what it looks like in comparison.
I'm thinking they all show a difference between the anodized aluminum shroud & matt black steel compression tube?
Here's a post with some pics of one that looks purple ( NOT MINE ) but the owner says it's not in regular light.
Back years ago when I built custom rifles guns like the old P-14 and 17 would turn out with a red looking receiver and purple looking allot of times after bluing so maybe that has something to do with it or their bluing salts my be a hair to hot, there is probably several reason for it.
If you wipe some oil type protective finish on the metal

the purple finish reslly stand out. It doesn't look bad, but I NOTICE THE TWO TONE EFFECT RIGHT AWAY. I just wondered how many were sold like this? Apparently it did not bother the quality contol checkers enough to pull them asid. I think most MARAUDERS are all black.
Last year I ordered an Air Force Condor and when it arrived the metal was wasn't black it had a bluish haze to it. I called up Air Force and they told me that happens sometimes during the anodizing process when the chemicals don't bond correctly to the metal. They told me to send it back, which I did and it was replaced with one that was the correct black color.
If the color doesn't bother you then I wouldn't worry about it, especially if the rifle is a good shooter....
I was at the plating shop today and I mentioned that some parts I picked up a while back had a reddish cast to them. He said there must have been a color transfer from a previous color in that tank.
