Can you fill the Benjamin pony bottle with the Benjamin pump?
Has anyone done this, and if it works, how long does it take? I would assume several hundred strokes.
Also, I see the bottle is regulated to 2000 PSI. I assume that pressure works well with the Marauder?
I am still thinking about a Marauder (.22) and was just wondering if it's practical to fill the Benjamin bottle yourself. I imagine there are paintball stores in the Pittsburgh area that would fill it also, but would be nice to be self-sufficient.
Thanks!
Russ

Actually I have taken it from 2000PSI to 3000PSI. There is a male foster fitting on the Benjamin bottle that mates with the female foster fitting on the pump.
including myself, are filling their rifles to more than 2000psi... a lot more. The factory sets them to work at 2650psi. JSB pellets work best from 2850-2900 down to 2200psi, no lower.
So to answer your question, no. I wouldn't count on this bottle at 2000psi working well with the M-rod. Disco, maybe. M-rod, no.
Do it all the time. Get a brew, position yourself in front of a fan.............and get a workout. I would not suggest this bottle for the Mrod, not enough capacity.
And I've mentioned this before, if your pump has the brass (nickel plated) foster connector, it is NOT rated for 3000psi. Draw a file across it to check.
.........yes, i've filled my pony tank up - mine's 62 ci. i broke my footpump doing it, but it was acting funny before i got the little tank. luckily, the inventor is right here in town and he had the pump fixed by lunch the next day. he said i could use non-detergent 30 weight motor oil to lube it. it took all freakin' day to pump that bitch up. i was pumping it during commercials. it's been great since i crossed the 2000 psi mark w/ it. i fill it to 2900 psi and it refills my modified disco about 5 times (maybe more) in the field. my disco is really turned up - only gets 20 shots per fill. i just throw my 'pony' tank into my camelback water bag/daypack w/ some good hunting pellets and some twine for tying rabbits to my belt - and i'm off hunting for hours. i got my tank from muzzle mack for about $100 + shipping. i wish i had gotten a carbon fiber paintball tank and had someone put a 2000 psi outflow regulator on it, but i guess it's not really all that heavy. the footpump's a lot heavier. just don't let it go below 2000 psi. i would go to the scuba shop and get it filled first, then re-cap it w/ your footpump. - paul.
Thanks to all for your input. So, it sounds like the tank works with the Marauder, so long as you set the Marauder up to shoot at 2,000 psi.
I haven't gotten the gun yet, but wanted to get an idea how handy the tank would be if I do. It sounds like it would work for me; provided that changing the fill pressure on the Marauder isn't too inconvenient. I could set the rifle up for a higher fill pressure most of the time, and fill with the pump, but then set it up for a lower fill pressure if I know I'm going to be out in the field for a while and would be taking the bottle along instead of the pump.
I tried turning my Mrod down and running it on 2000psi....for higher velocities, my shot count went Waaay down.....to about one mag, before the POI fell out the bottom.....at around 650fps, the gun's shot count picked back up to 30 shots....but that's way down on power...
If you're thinking Mrod, I'd suggest a bigger tank with a higher fill...you can Google Joe Brancato and he's got great gear at reasonable prices....or...
You could run the Mrod on CO2....it will give you about 650-700fps, and a ton of shots per fill....
Just my two cents after having tried turning it down....I'm not an expert on fills to be sure...but I played with the gun for over 5 hours on lower fill pressures and it just wouldn't give me what I wanted.....
Not a problem! Like I said, I'm just gathering information. Seems the Benji bottle is geared more towards the Discovery then. That's ok. 99% of the time, I'll be shooting indoors anyway, so the pump would be close at hand. I'm just thinking that on the 1 time out of 100 that I'm shooting outdoors, it would be inconvenient to drag the pump along. Not to mention that I wouldn't want to get dirt in the pump from pumping outdoors (or maybe that's not a concern? I'm a PCP newbie for certain.)
In the meantime, I just got a Shooting Chrony Alpha, and haven't had a chance to set it up. I'm going to see what my TX-200 and P17's do. I liked the P17 enough to buy two more as Christmas presents for family members. Of course, I'll need to do the air inlet deburring first, and may as well chrony them while I'm at it, right?
Jamie was more direct than my earlier post, in which I offered the same comments.
BTW, I would not use any pump to fill any Crosman product with an aluminum valve. Greg Davis is telling us the chances of corroded aluminum valves increase exponentially when a hand pump is used. Simply too much moisture in the tube from the pump. In contrast, Greg sees NO moisture damage from compressed air tank users.
