Not too thrilled.just a lil more $ 4 the M-rod.

November 6 2009, 12:27 AM

I'd rather spend an extra $100 bucks and buy the Marauder.
I hope they sell the stock separately inn the future.
Trigger guard is freaking ugly!!!

Notice how they conviently left the "weight" out of the specs.

Where is the SHROUD everyone has been asking for?.

Crosman left off the most important and requested upgrade.

No shroud, no sale.

And no, I don`t want to buy the Crosman Elephant.

Bummer.

Shroud would likely have made it to be even

November 6 2009, 12:01 PM

closer to the Marauder price. Seems geared for hunters or match shooters and not suburban back yards. Might find a niche and sell quite a few.

Not to me... I'm in the would rather have a Marauder camp. Especially at this price point.

For some quite is nice but not critical - delivering a fast moving heavy pellet to the KZ is all that counts to hunters. These folks should find the Katana attractive as an more comfortable and more accurate choice over the Disco and lower price than the Marauder. Assuming it is more comfortable and more accurate.

Excellet perspective

November 6 2009, 1:32 PM

I too agree, it's likely to be 'just the ticket' for some shooters even if not to my (or others) liking.

Just imagine what would have happened if Crosman had put a shround on it.....can you hear the 'who needs a single shot Marauder' flames? I can.......

I think they missed the mark as well. The #1 complaint

November 6 2009, 2:25 PM

is that it's too loud. #2 is the trigger. They should have added a breach riser piece & shrouded the barrel, added the MDR trigger & kept the same Disco stock & added a MDR like butt pad & maybe an new bolt design. Just my 2 cents.

Aloha
Now go out & shoot!

Wrong poster?

I think you may have intended to reply to Boo? Both Mach-1 and I seem to think is a good gun for someone else.

Some folks are OK with loud. I think, frankly, most of the 'Discovery is too loud' complaints are coming from folks with no real experience with PCPs.....they can all be kinda loud at 20 fpe without treatment.

And I still think that if Crosman had done as you suggest and added a riser and shroud, the Marauder trigger (to cover 'the number 2 problem') and dressed up the stock some, there would be nay sayers right there with 'where's the mag' and the like.

Not to mention those who won't like any price (maybe short of free).

The sad fact is it's all a compromise. You really can't please all the people all the time. The goal, I think, remains to please enough of the people to make a reasonable profit.

Doug , not a 1st time PCP guy. Most of the too loud crowd reside in urban areas where

November 7 2009, 6:44 AM

a quiet gun is needed to shoot. I'm on my 5th PCP & have had 3 C02 guns which can be loud as well. Think urban sprawl & large track home subdivisions where the houses are 30 feet apart........

I still think you've got the wrong guy.....

November 7 2009, 9:31 AM

I think it's a good gun for some uses. Without a shroud, same as a lot of fine guns.

I still think a guy that buys a 20 plus fpe PCP without a shroud expecting it to be quiet isn't an informed buyer. To complain about the noise after the fact makes no sense to me if they buyer is experienced. "Louder than I expected" is not the fault of the gun as I see it.

FWIW, while I understand the idea of hiding from your neighbors and all, seems to me if it's legal to shoot in the back yard it's legal no matter how loud it is. If it's not legal.......

And that doesn't take away from my original point, 'loud' airguns have their place too. A USFT or DAQ would look silly with a LDC doncha think? For some shooters, the report is not an issue.

For about $120 more you can get a Marauder and a single shot tray.

November 6 2009, 4:02 PM

Which I think is a better deal.

Yup, I agree

November 6 2009, 4:18 PM

And I think a lot of guys do. Which is why I think sticking to the smaller, lighter stock on the Discovery and going after the hunter market would make more sense.

But Crosman didn't ask me.....then again it was their call, and their money on the line. Which is, of course, as it should be.

Re: Yup, I agree

Remember they are selling them only at PA. So there feeling the market thru PA..
If the public bites, they'll make more and eventually sell them threw other vendors I imagine.
I'm sure there not making them in vast numbers like the Disco or M-rod.If they dont sell like hot cakes all they have to do is stop making them.

Maybe it will become some collector item in the future or they'll be popular and still sell them.
