It was an absolutely perfect day at the range here in Indiana. I took six pistols, 3 PBs and 3 APs.

The PBs were a Hamdon High Standard 7.5" barrel, a 6" Sig Trailside and a 5.5" 1970s Ruger Mark 1 Target.

The APs were the IZH-46M, FAS 604 and the Crosman 2300S.

All were shot at 25 yards at a standard B6 25 yard slow fire target using iron sights. Which had the best score after 25 shots per pistol?

The CROSMAN 2300S was the winner by far:) It doesn't make sense but the more costly the pistol the worse I shot it today, Thank goodness for the 2300S.

My High Standard is the only PB pistol I can use to shoot decent 1 hole groups, something about the grips perhaps. On the other hand, my little wife (with her tiny hands) regularly makes one hole groups with my(her!!) huge Glock 21 at the same distance. Admittedly they are 5 times as big, but they are still one hole groups.

Only the wise read signatures.

After thinking it over we had just returned from a vacation trip and I had not done any shooting for two weeks. I normally shoot every other day or so with the air pistols. I shot the pistols in the order of HS, Sig, Ruger, 46M, FAS 604 and Crosman 2300S.

The scores improved the longer I shot and the 2300S was the last in the string. I was probably just recovering a bit from the two week lapse. I have noticed that as I have gotten older (68 now) that my shooting degrades rapidly without practice.
