Hi Jeff,

We use Visual Sourcesafe for version control on all of our development work. Further, we automate the builds, etc. using Apache Ant. You could automate the deployment to the servers using Ant as well.

One of the benefits you will see is the ability to track the changes that have been made and rollback changes if necessary. I don't know about Subversion, but Sourcesafe has a visual compare tool that will highlight changes on a line-by-line basis. BTW, once I get my slides from Kscope11 posted to my blog, which is somewhere on my list of things to do, you will be able to see a Sourcesafe comparison screenshot.

I am willing to assist you as at least a sounding board for ideas. If I see the potential for generalization, maybe it's time to add to the OlapUnderground tool set. I believe that version control is something that every Essbase shop should use.
