| Honestly... I can kinda-sorta understand why the dates are different: the rationale being that 20110914 is nicer than 1315958400 if you can't use SmartView or an FR Planning connection. But it's cruel to not provide any conversion between the two if the Unix dates are that deeply entrenched in Essbase for attribute dimensions, etc.
The icing on the cake is that SmartView quietly converts 20110914 into the corresponding /Excel/ date value (40800) before populating the spreadsheet cell, and converts it back before submitting to Essbase. Unless you accidentally feed it a value that it can't convert, which... well, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise. |
