Tell me, who here wasnt making 100K - 10 years ago being an essbase developer? The problem is the technology doesnt offer much growth. Developers are still developing ...but at a higher level, and making more money now.
Getting beyond the developer/admin role is tough. Lots of folks still developing after 15 years, so why take a cut if you dont have too. And how many developers have moved/transitioned to other roles? And how many new developers have heard of arbor.
I got into this business in 1995. No skills whatsover (probably less now...), but took a job as a Microcontrol (now that's old) monkey and just kept switching jobs until I got the salary I wanted.
Equity isnt a bad company. Its a sam zell REIT ("the grave dancer"). But there have been a lot of folks that have come and gone at the company. (I remember 3 at least).
Or you can be like me and hide in the shadows....Mu-ha-ha-ha
(PS KSCOPE12 is nice. Seen a lot of familiar faces...where ya at Faitsch? McCahren? San Antonio is HOT! Not a good place for Polski in June!)
