Response to So does it work or doesn't it?

Hi Cameron and Azmat,

Even I usually migrate applications and data the way you have described (i.e. migrate app and then export and import data in text file).

But in this instance I donot have access to the old essbase server (11.1.1.3). I only have all the files/folders from filesystem for all the applications i need to migrate.

I have tried it a few times but My approach has not worked for me till now.
I have tried copying the following files -

xyz.db
xyz.dbb
xyz.esm
xyz.ind
ess00001.ind
xyz.otl
ess00001.pag

Without editing the esm file - I'm unable to start the appliaction and I get the following error -
The error is due to the fact that on the previous server the hyperion was installed on E: drive and on the new server on D drive.

[Sun Jul 29 20:08:10 2012]Local/test///348/Info(1019017)
Reading Parameters For Database [xyz]
[Sun Jul 29 20:08:10 2012]Local/test///348/Error(1070023)
Configured Disk Volume [E] does not exist.
[Sun Jul 29 20:08:10 2012]Local/test///348/Error(1002097)
Unable to load database [xyz]

And If i edit anything in the esm file (e.g. name of the old server or application) i get the following error.

Unable to Read [D:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\APP\test\xyz\xyz.esm], Not a Recognized Format

Also, I could not find the value of ARBORPATH in the esm file. The file was mostly encrypted.. The only thing that was not encrypted was name of the server, application/db name, owner name..
Is there a way to decrypt this file edit it and make it readable again?

Could you please let me know step by step procedure I should follow to make this work. Any pointers would be really appreaciated as I really need to get this done asap. I'm happy to take the risk and try anuthing as I have backup of all applications I need to migrate.

Thanks in Advance!!
