can someone confirm / deny the following essbase licensing:
When someone buys the base "Essbase" (different from getting essbase via purchasing hyperion planning) they receive licensing for the following:
essbase
aggregate storage option
partitioning
integration server
sql interface
api
The customer does not however get:
Hyperion System 9 windows developer toolkit (ie. spreadsheet toolkit)
While we know every software contract can have it's own nuances, can
can someone confirm the accuracy of the components above for a base Essbase acquisition?
Is there a different "essbase enterprise" then a stripped down "essbase" witout aggregate storage or partitioning? I didn't think this was the case since the Oracle acquisition.
thanks,
hj

I think that you're wrong when you acquire Oracle Essbase (v9, 11 or whatever) you get all the options except for visual explorer which requires a separate license.
spreadsheet toolkit & addin
aso
bso
eas
api
hbr
eds
partitioning
currency conversion
sql interface
triggers
datamining
eis
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong

Sebastian is correct, since Oracle acquisition, there is no more a la carte licensing options. An Essbase license gets you all options including Spreadsheet toolkit (both Classic addin and Smartview).
The only thing not included, as Sebastian pointed out, is Visual Explorer, which is an OEM product from Tableau resold by Oracle/Hyperion, so it requires a separate license.

Forgot to mention, if your customer is on an older version of Essbase, then they could have some issues as their license file might be blocking them from using certain options.
I believe when Oracle took over they published an open license file to enable all options, but not sure about that. You might need to contact your Oracle rep if you are on an older version to get an open license, which will ultimately result in a conversation about why do you upgrade to v9 or 11.

Just to confirm sroux and Gari's comments are correct.
We just migrated from Planning 4.01 (which included EB v7.1.3) to Planning 11.1.1.1 which comes included with the limited use EB (v9.5). However we were able to convert the older EB server licences to about 17 EB standalone licenses which includes all the EB options except for the Visual Explorer which requires seperate license fees.

ODI is only included with the Planning package, but not with standalone Essbase if you were to go that route. Also the Planning ODI license is limited to ETL usage within the BI platform only, in other words, you can't use it as a standalone ETL outside of Hyperion.

Yep, as long as a Hyperion app (i.e.Planning, EB, HFM) is on either the sending or receiving end, then you should be good. You can't just use it as a standalone like pulling from Peoplesoft and loading to SQL Server. You gonna have to pay for the standalone server license if you want to go that route. IMO, the standalone server cost is still a bargain for an etl tool.
