This is what I do:
1) Clear the caches, cookies, etc. This is easy on FireFox -- I think even IE now has a feature like that. Sorry if you liked your cookies but you didn't really want Big Brother tracking you anyway, right?
2) Go to your favorite OTN page. Click on the Sign In/Register link. Go ahead a log in. Sometimes it fails and I have to clear the cache and cookies yet again.
That's it -- I've been doing the above for weeks and can post -- I just opined on a post (I can hardly say I answered the question) just a few minutes ago.

P.S. I hate typing in my username and password on OTN, especially as I habitually clear cookies, cache, history all the time (tinfoil hat cocked at a jaunty angle at all times). I use this approach to make FF put in the login information:
