Hey Folks,

Just wondering if we have any new reporting tools to connect to Essbase Cube, currently we are using:

Excel-Add-in
Smart-View
Financial Reporting
Dash boards

Do we have any other reporting tools other than the above which could connect to Essbase cubes?

Thanks
Jimmy

Note I do not work for Applied OLAP but I may be its biggest non-employee fan.

Sooner or later I am going to write up how to do row and column based focused aggregations from Dodeca.

Regards,

Cameron

Dodeca - Interesting

Thanks Cameron.

Dodeca seems to be interesting, even though it got similar functions like Financial reporting studio, creating a Excel Essbase view seems to be nice. We are going to try this and will propose it to our business.

Dodeca is better, more performant & flexible and cheaper than all the previous products you just quoted.

Now I don't get why there so much buzz concerning OBIEE which is expensive, complex to install and limited. I would never buy an Essbase frontend without write back facilities. Please enlight me!

OBIEE

Like everything, OBIEE is all about the configuration.. We have a couple good configs here and a few very very very very very poor configs. When configured correctly, its a very good tool and integrates fairly well now with Essbase. I don't think OBIEE is very intuitive from a user perspective but can be good if its your organizations tool of choice..

Jimmy,

You have to check out Savant BI. These guys developed a voice recognition interface for Hyperion Essbase. I have seen it demonstrated and it is wild. Users talk to their phone and the software generates queries against Essbase and responds verbally to the questions!

CXO - Cockpit??

Thanks guys....

We ended up with two choices 1) Dodeca & 2) CXO-Cockpit (Tableau might also join the list)

CXO-Cockpit seems to be interesting, with the options of charts and graphical analysis, which is missing in Dodeca.

Has anyone used CXO-Cockpit or Tableau for Essbase cubes??
