Response to Clever Mr Cutts

My issue rifle in the Marine Corps (1962-1966) was equipped with a "flash surpressor)...had longitudinal slots...but it did nothing I'm aware of reducing recoil....in fact, with selector swith on full auto, the barrel would rise upwards and to the left(in an arc)....so we would put our left hand on top of the forestock to hold barrel down even when firing 3 round bursts...

Not a good pic,but surpressor was about 4" at end of barrel including front sight..
