Proof?
byAs I read this message and think of so many others I've read or heard I cant help but ask the question "why?". To all those who have seen the creature or those who choose to believe the point of "proof" is meaningless. They choose to believe no matter what is said by others who do not. So it is mans desire to tear down all walls of mystery that exist in the world to satify his own ego. To prove that his beliefs are reality or some would say "I need to prove it to myself." Proving it to ones self is fine but to try to force the world into believing you're beliefs reminds me of religion. Do you believe or do you not, and why does it matter if your neighbor does or doesn't. If the creature was proven to exist than the hunt for the creature would grow ten fold. What would this do for something that has brought so many of us the enjoyment of mystery and fear of the unknown. It is that mystery and fear that places bigfoot in its position of greatness. Fire side tales and late night whispers of strange noises in the night take us to a place that does not exist in this modern age for those who choose not to believe. To the statements about protecting the creature are laughable. It seems well protected as it is. Proving its existence would only further its danger. Many who do not believe now would go out to hunt the thing just to prove it to themselves and what would this do? I am glad for the fact that those who record reports of sightings are out there and I do not want to see this end, but to kill one of them or capture one for study would be a swift road to the decline of such a mysterious creature. So many in this world would pay dearly for a slain bigfoot and if it were proven to exist than professioal hunters would be out to collect. Think of the elephant or the rhino who are protected and then think of where they are today. No, I believe it is terribly wrong to try and prove bigfoots existence to the world. Ask yourself why you wish to prove such a thing, then contemplate the ramifications of this action.I say let the world believe as it will, and you and I choose to be of a greater mind. Let the mystery grow, let the creature prove its own existence if ever it will. But do not force the proof of such a fabulous mystery and destroy all that we love as open minded men and women of mystery. We are tale tellers who keep the dream alive. Whether it be an old hunter around a late night campfire or one who tells tales over the internet we keep the creature alive for those who choose to believe. It must be a choice made by yourself and no other. Remember the mysteries of the night and love them.Posted on Feb 23, 2003, 3:10 PM
