Extinction ???
by Rick Base
Walter,
I agree with almost everything in your posting...Almost everything. Should a 'Squatch be killed ? Yeah, probably. If for nothing else then to just prove once and for all what most of us already know.
Is it possible to "hunt" down one ?? Now way, As you pointed out they are much smarter then we could ever hope to be when it comes to the forests. These guys make Mowgli look like Jethro Bodine.
Are their numbers on the decline ?? I really doubt it. What would hunt them ?? Nothing. Why would they die out ?? Lack of habitat ?? That really doesn't cut it either in my opinion. There are millions of square acres in north America alone that would have no problem in supporting a vast number of these critters.
I will amit that they are probably being shoved out of some of their stomping grounds.Logging operations, sub divisions and just the general expansion of our cities and towns probably do take alot of their territory but you must remember that whatever these things are ( I'm in the ape side myself) they are incredibly adaptive creatures. If they would get pushed out of one area I really don't think they would have any trouble relocating.
What are your statistics based upon ??
