i really dont have statisics just an idea if you look at the old legends and stories i think that it is possible that this creature is in the process of extinction by what is called natural selection if you have two different species competing for food, space to live in ect... there will be a consant decline in the losing species be it from loss of habitat which i belive that has something to do with it but not as much as stress on the species its self yes they are probably adapable they would have to be to survive for so long but if you watch animals and how they act stress can be a very large factor stop and think about it how would you feel if you and your whole family had to move every 6 months because some one just came in and took your house would that be a stressful situation ? ok now think about this as a whole adaptabilty could only go so far soon you would see low birth rates disese and so on and so forth thus bring up the natruarl selection thing agin the stronger species wins thus a slow decline in the poulation of the losing species i agree that there is thousands of miles of habitat in the US that could support a large number of these species but i think that the damage had been doen long ago by nature and we helped it along unintentsional or not i belive it is an ape not a man as i said before giganto is dead but ther is geneticaly not that much differance between ape and man so did the ape just stop evoloving i belive what we have is an evolved ape that has competed with man in the past and lost to natural selection as far as populations ...here we go ! the north american indian seen these things long before we came to this country they are part of their religion superstitions their world before we built skyscrapers there was some kind of relationship beteewn the indian and bigfoot because i belive there were more of the creatures then look how much the US has change since then what kind of impact have we made on the natural world here there i go back to natural selection ,look how much the world has changed then think about things on a global aspectwhat kind of impact would we be talking about on a species that could not comete with man for space ? well you get unknown animals such as bigfoot that can find there only hope to survive as long as possible is to hide and stay away from man i could go on writing forever and probably not get my point across the way i mean to it is just an idea i have and i have trouble typing it out i could show you what i mean by using a graph or something like that well i hoped i kind of explained what i meant feel free to e-mail me
