I have had this happen, go out in the early AM, apparently disturbing an owl nearby, and actually heard it land in a tree a little farther away, and start hooting. Sometimes another owl will answer, if there is one nearby. As to the screams, here in Southern IN we have had a rash of cougar/mt lion/panther sightings lately, a horse hear Huntingburg was attacked and still shows the scars. DNR denies theier existence, but too many have been seen. Hope that helps a little.

      Good hunting and HAPPY 2004!
