Spectrum Training Systems will be hosting a Communication Strategies conference for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, therapists, special education teachers, parents and other concerned persons.

Tuesday we will welcome Dr. Diane Twachtman-Cullen as she offers:
1. A complete overview of deficit areas, and innovative ideas for how to address the language and language-based social-cognitive deficits associated with autism, Asperger syndrome, and non-verbal learning disability (NLD).
2. Current research findings will help the understanding and addressing of deficits, and methodology for translating this information into effective practice.
3. Specific intervention ideas/recommendations for useful resources.

Wednesday's speaker is Maria Bird-West Wheeler. Join us as we:
1. Increase understanding of the behavioral, social and sensory issues related to communication and speech language therapy in autism/Asperger Syndrome and NLD.
2. Learn strategies on how to promote cooperation with therapies, and see demonstrations of visual supports used both in and out of speech/language.
3. Distinguish when to schedule the use of interventions commonly prescribed by SLPs and when to avoid certain interventions.

*1.2 CEUs are available from ASHA. (NOTE: ASHA CEUs are only available for TWO day attendance)
*12.5 CPDUs are available from the Illinois State Board of Education.
