Smart conversation and still loads of fun. No wonder I like this forum so much. Anyway, platitudes aside and attitudes ahead full, I respectively have to say that I think you're completely full of crap. j/k

OK, kidding aside, RPG, You make an excellent point but I'll thkae that excellent point and raise you some hard and fast practical considerations. You see what I don't see is any gurus knocking down the doors to contribute to this QB64 project. Here we have a small small group of programmers who for the most part refused to sell out QB programming for FreeBasic and either continue to program in QB or have learned other languages like C , JAVA, etc. but have not expressed a great desire to contribute to the QB64 project other than to act as beta testers and to of course help out with polls, ideas, etc. So if our small talent-rich group of programmers are not ready to contribute to this project, I see no use in open sourcing it anytime soon; therefore, the negative points of open source seem more likely to affect the project.

What some C programmers could do is start programming an IDE for QB64. That is a huge project onto itself but hey, you can clone the QB IDE of copy from other formats and most all of the keywords for it are already known. Again, if there was really a high interest from others to contribute to this project, I think there would have already been one or more persons who were doing just that.

For now, I'm just glad to have Captain Kirk on the QQB64 bridge so I can kick back on Risa with a tall one.
