i use dsl because of puppy linux

i used to follow puppy closely, i've offered way too many suggestions how to keep it on a path that will make it a distro useful for everyday use. instead, it is merely a demo.

the irony is the more they try to make it into an everyday use distro, the more it becomes a demo. it was designed as one, but older versions really were cool.

i actually made a package (.pup) for a port of iki, specifically for puppy. it let you click on the same links that were on the desktop (if you haven't seen iki, it's included with the tutorial on the downloads page here.)

but i wouldn't touch the latest versions. dsl is my first serious linux distro. but if i want a toy, i (genuinely) like xubuntu. it's a lot more useful, for what supports it. obviously this could be a distraction, and will be if there's more from me about anything but qb64.

if it were up to me though, i'd be focused on getting qb64 to run in dsl. at least they keep it a serious project, and it doesn't need all the ram that xubuntu does, and if it works in dsl, (or even dsl-n,) it should work in xubuntu. although there is the 2.4.x, 2.6.x issue. but dsl is 2.4, dsl-n is 2.6 like xubuntu and ubuntu. now you tell me as you would know, if galleon compiles for 2.4 kernels, is that good (enough) for 2.6 distros?
