how about a small default (64 is nice? 256?) and a not-metacommand to set it higher?

if you read my email a week ago, you know how i feel about metacommands. when it's technically possible, i think commands like screen that let you choose screen 0, screen 12, and screen 0 again are so much nicer than:

$vgamode

but i guess with something like $dynamic it's something you can only do once. i still don't like metacommands (but totally support having the ones already in qbasic/quickbask/pds!)

when you say "slower machines?" the one i'm thinking of runs xp. maybe you mean "machines that don't have quadcore cpus?" the audio does explain why demo 7 is so much slower than demo 6 though.
