RE: Feedback on the 2D prototypeby (no login)The "message" is loud and clear. Nobody cares about supporting any new features if it means times spent on developing these could have been spent on furthering QBASIC compatibility. It's obvious that QB64 does need to support more modern graphics formats and functions, the important question is WHEN. Apart from the suggestion that graphics commands could work in text mode to create ASCII art I've received very little constructive feedback/suggestions about the prototype yet. For the record, I love ASCII art too but I think that this is something that can take a back seat and either be added later or simulated by using a hidden graphics surface (they are really just chunks of memory), POINT, LOCATE & PRINT to achieve the desired effect. The first part of the 2D prototype (all of the functions proposed) will be implemented in Demo #8 (to be released in ~3 weeks time) and this is your chance to suggest changes. Regardless of what you think the current focus should be, I suggest you take this opportunity. Things can be changed later, and that's why I call it a "prototype", but the sooner good suggestions are implemented the better for everyone. from IP address 122.104.40.30 |
