| Hi Jack! Alicia and I are back from Colombia. The international travel getting there and back was a pain but the destination was worth all the trouble. While we were there, the Colombian rebels released three of their captives and the entire Nation went nuts; it was the only thing on radio or TV down there... even the novellas (daytime TV) were cancelled. The whole country was happy in a way I don't see up here. I'm glad I saw it.
And God received the credit, even on TV!!! Except for the Venezuelan socialist government; they gave the credit to their President Chavez which irritated the Colombians no end. It's different being in a country in which government, people, and media openly acknowledge God as a present and loving force in daily life. The contrast between Colombian, and Venezuelan (socialist), TV was enormous. But even on the Venezuelan channels you could see Crosses and Rosaries in the background... more, actually, than you might see here. Even in Venezuela God isn't yet forgotten.
Sad to leave Colombia, happy to be back home. Much to think about and remember. Many friends to greet after what seems like a loooooong absence but really was a short one.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up his countenance over you and give you his peace, now and ever. +
In faith, Dave
