"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints" (Ephesians 1:18 NIV).
A mind that has been enlightened by the Spirit and Word of God is the only means of truly understanding and appreciating the hope of inheritance that we have in Christ. To the one whose mind has not been so illuminated, such things are foolishness to him (1 Corinthians 2:14) because without the Spirit and Word of God illuminating his mind, he cannot comprehend them.
