"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God" (Colossians 3:16 NIV).
"The word of Christ" is referring to the inspired Word of God. "Dwell" means "to live in, or be at home." Thus the Word of God should permeate our very being as Christians, and control every thought, word, and deed (see Psalm 119:11; Matthew 13:9; Philippians 2:16; 2Timothy 2:15). Unsaved folks, and "carnal Christians who have compromised the faith once delivered" may incorrectly refer to this as "Bible idolatry," but in truth, to allow anything else to permeate our very being, and control every thought, word, and deed would actually be idolatry.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
